LAKE LANIER IS DOWN 13.6 FEET, AND LAKE IS STAINED AND THE CREEKS AND THE RIVERS ARE STAINED & 75 DEGREES.
Black bass fishing has been fair. There is a fair top water bike early each morning in the creeks. Small top water lures like the Zara Spook and the small Red Fins are working, but cover a lot of water. A light Texas rigged worm in a u tail will work on wood and bank cover. Small live bait books and small shiners or spot tail minnows will catch a largemouth around these same locations. Also try a white or Lake Lanier Shad color Leverage 3/8 ounce spinner bait and a white Rooster Tail in medium sizes. During the late afternoons, concentrate your efforts all in the north end of the lake. Small white spinner baits and small all white crank baits are the best choices. Mid day fishing has been slow to duty to the heat. Also try a jig and pig in black and blue combinations after dark. Large dark colored crank baits have been fair late afternoons around docks. Continue to move around and fish pockets and points all afternoon. Small Shad Raps are fair and use light 6 pound test on smaller sizes of any crank bait. If you want to try some live lizards around docks and on man made brush piles, use weed less hooks and light line with a small split shot.
Spotted bass fishing has been good and top water bite is on. Be aware as the spots and the stripers will mix together and feed on the any type of top water bait. The Red Fin is the hot bait but almost anything on top will work. Work main lake long points for spots feeding on small baits and stay out at least 70 feet off these points. A June Zoom mini crawfish has been very good in light green colors. And some Jacks Juice these plastic baits. Blue backs and shiners on free lines will work and Three Sisters has been a good place to find these fish. Small green plastic worms and light 8 pound test line and 6 pound test line will work for the spots. Use a medium action 6 and ½ foot spinning rod and fish these baits very slowly. Man made brush piles at 17 to 30 feet have large concentrations of the spotted bass. Work all these baits especially, soft plastics very slowly. Use a small Mustad worm 1/0 hooks and fish these baits vertically. The night fishing for spotted bass has been good with large Norman June bug crank bail and large black spinner baits. Concentrate your efforts all the main lake humps and ridges at depths of 15 to 35 feet. These bigger spotted bass will bite up until 3 am. Use heavy line and heavy tackle as these larger spots really take a bait hard and head to deep water fast. If there is brush on the location, this heavy tackle will get the fish away from it quicker. Also down line live bait for the large spots after dark.
