WEST POINT LAKE IS FULL, CLEAR & 84 DEGREES

Bass are biting best mid lake up to the mouth of New River. Just get the worms on a Carolina rig and work 8 to 20 feet of water on roadbeds, humps, main lake structure, and the mouths of creeks. The key to catching big fish is to use big baits. Use a big Carolina rigged worm and 9 to 10 inches in any color black grape is working for the bigger bass. For the spots, Spot Stickers and a Zoom green pumpkin craw worm is the ticket. Dip the tail red or chartreuse dye, too. Also use a big deep diving crank bait. The smaller bass are schooling all over the lake and best baits are small rooster tails and Rat-L-Traps.

Hybrids and whites are still suspended over standing timber in 14 feet of water in the mouths of the creeks; however, look for them to start relating to main lake structure in the next few weeks. As a regular generating schedule develops, the hybrids and whites will move onto the ridges, humps, and roadbeds in the main lake. Live bait is the best bait right now. The best places to fish are the mouths of Wehadkee, Veasey, and Stroud and around Amity Park.

Crappie are biting. Fish under the bridges at night using lanterns in 6-8 feet of water. Fish around docks and blow downs and under the bridges during the day. Best baits are minnows and jigs. The bridges at Hwy 109 and the railroad trestle are good places to fish right now.
