I
have been fortunate to have fished over a large portion of the old
earth. I have fished for lake trout, arctic grayling, and northern
pike in northern Canada near the Arctic Circle. I have fished for
Peacock Bass in the Xernia river near the Amazon River in Brazil,
and a lot of other places in between, bone and tarpon fishing in
Belize, rainbow Bass in the jungles of Honduras, Peacock Bass in
Venezuela, black bass in the High Sierra Mountains of western Mexico,
and brown and rainbow trout in New Zealand.
This just might sound a little like bragging, and maybe I am, but
it is to make a point. I have had a passion for fishing since I
was in college and the University of Montevallo. The University
has a beautiful lake on the campus property. It was here I got addicted
to fishing and it was here I married my high school sweetheart.
Many a man wishes their wives would understand their love for fishing.
I got lucky. My beautiful, loving wife has always supported my decisions
when I decided to travel around the world to all these exotic places.
After travelling to all these places for many years I have found
a place not 2 hours from my home that I can go and enjoy a fantastic
day of fishing. In fact I honestly think I enjoy fishing the P-Arrow
lakes more than any of the exotic places I have ever been.
Last October I was talking to a friend and during the conversation
he told me about the P-Arrow Plantation in Livingston, Alabama.
Naturally my passion for fishing had me checking this place out
in a matter of days. After four trips to this fishing hole I can
truly say "Eureka" (I have found it.) On the first trip after just
6 casts I caught an eight pound, fourteen ounce large mouth bass.
My partner and I caught and released 160 bass that one day. The
other 3 trips have been just as good if not better.
On one trip a friend, Carl Schaefer and his son Tray went with me
and came away with smiles that have not gone away yet. They recently
went back and reinforced those smiles with a 112 bass day. Several
bass were in the 6 and 7 pounds range. On another trip I took Jack
Cobb and his grandson Eric with me. Eric being a novice fisherman
was able to catch more fish in one day than all his other fishing
trips put together. This fishing hole is definitely a place for
grandfather-grandson, father-son, father-daughter, husband-wife,
buddies, and best friends. On two occasions I took 7 friends with
me and came away saying " Best day of bass fishing I have ever had."
Several have already been back. Zina and Drayton Pruitt proprietors
of the P-Arrow Plantation in Livingston, Alabama have open 3 of
the 8 lakes on the plantation to the public by reservations only.
For a mere $250 per day per person with a guide, $200 per day, per
person without a guide, with a group of four or more they will bring
a picnic lunch to the lake at mid day. Two bass boats are furnished
for each of the 35 acre lakes with a limit of only four people per
lake.
For a fantastic day of bass fishing call Zina or Drayton at 1-800-949-7990
or 1-205-652-7990 and you can check out their web site at www.Parrowgator.com
