Outdoor Alabama is a production of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, with sponsorship support from Alabama Power, ALFA, and the Alabama Forestry Association. The 30-minute show highlights Alabama’s abundant natural resources and recreational opportunities.

Outdoor Alabama will help viewers discover why our state is the ultimate destination for hunting, fishing and wildlife watching. From scenic mountains to white sandy beaches along its sunny coast, Alabama offers something for everyone. Contained within its 51,000 square miles are many natural wonders: 23 million acres of forestland and 337 miles of coastal shoreline. “Many don’t realize what a beautiful, diverse state Alabama is and how much nature-based recreation is available,” says Jerry deBin, Information & Education Chief for the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

The show is hosted by Kevin Dodd, a conservation enforcement officer with ADCNR. Dodd, an avid hunter and fisherman, has a degree in Wildlife Biology from Auburn University. His interest in the outdoors began at an early age. Some of Kevin’s first memories are of watching his father clean fish and squirrels and of riding his father’s shoulders on adventures in the woods. “This is a wonderful opportunity,” says Dodd. “Many viewers will be surprised at what Alabama has to offer every outdoors enthusiast. I’m thrilled to be a part of Outdoor Alabama.”

The television show is a companion piece to Outdoor Alabama magazine. Each issue is packed with outstanding color photos and compelling features on state parks, wildlife management areas, nongame wildlife and much more. Whether you enjoy birdwatching, bass fishing, camping, hiking, hunting or just reading about our state’s natural resources, you’ll find it in Outdoor Alabama magazine.

Outdoor Alabama is published five times a year by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
