1. Wipe bore with Bore Solvent saturated patch. Repeat this 3-4
times. Make sure the bore is entirely covered with solvent.
2. Let the BORE SOLVENT work for 10-15 minutes. Even longer for Extreme
fouling.
3. Follow with a Brass Core/Bronze Bristle Bore Brush. The BEST type
of bore brush to use.
4. Follow with more Bore Solvent saturated patches.
5. Finish with dry patches until the barrel is dry.
6. Optional-Use oiled mop to protect the bore for storage. Remove
any oil in the bore before firing.
CLEANING TECHNIQUES FOR BOLT ACTION RIFLES AND REVOLVERS
BEFORE YOU BEGIN CLEANING YOUR FIREARM, ALWAYS MAKE SURE IT IS UNLOADED!!
Clean your firearm in a well ventilated area away from distractions.
1. To begin the cleaning process, first saturate a Pro-Shot 100% cotton
flannel finished on both sides cleaning patch. Using lead & powder
solvent or copper solvent II, depending on the type of bullet, lead
or jacketed, you have been shooting.
A one piece stainless steel rod is highly recommended for superior
results. The average cost of a new firearm is $500.00. A superior
quality cleaning rod is very inexpensive compared to the cost of a
new barrel. A rod that is smooth and prohibits picking up grit such
as PRO-SHOT'S ONE PIECE STAINLESS STEEL TECHNOLOGICALLY ADVANCED CLEANING
ROD. As P.O. Ackley, Dean of American Shooters, once said, the harder
and shinier the rod the less it will pick up grit and be abrasive.
2. Push the patch with a professional spear pointed jag through the
bore to remove the loose powder residue, which will totally expose
the copper and lead fouling.
3. Using a wet "benchrest brush", Pro-Shot's name or its high quality
Phosphorous Bronze Bristles and a brass core along with a looped end,
push the brush back and forth through the bore 10 to 12 times. When
cleaning revolver cylinder chambers, run a wet brush through each
chamber hole on the cylinder 11 to 12 times additionally.
4. Saturate additional cleaning patches and individually push each
one through the bore to remove any additional lead, copper, carbon
and powder fouling.
A blue/green patch indicates that copper fouling is still present,
a black patch indicates that powder and carbon fouling is still present
in the firearm.
5. Repeat steps 2 & 3. For severely fouled firearms let the solvent
remain in the bore for 10 to 15 minutes. Then run dry cleaning patches
down the barrel (including cylinder chamber holes) until the cleaning
patches come out totally clean. When the cleaning patch comes out
totally clean, the cleaning process is finished.
IMPORTANT: Pro-Shot has the LEAD & POWDER AND COPPER SOLVENT II FOR
ONE VERY IMPORTANT REASON. EACH TYPE OF FOULING IS DIFFERENT, THEREFORE
FOR SUPERIOR RESULTS IN CLEANING WE RECOMMEND USING THE SPECIFIC BORE
CLEANER FOR EACH SPECIFIC TYPE OF FOULING.
Lubrication
6. Lubricate all moving parts and wear surfaces. APPLY SPARINGLY!!!
Using an over abundance is not better in lubricating a firearm. Our
lubricants are made of superior design to operate when used sparingly.
Over lubricants are made of superior design to operate when used sparingly.
Over lubrication can cause malfunctions.
7. To protect your firearms exterior from rust for short and long
term storage, use a Pro-Shot silicone wiping all exterior metal surfaces.
This will offer outstanding protection from the elements, as well
as, finger print acids.
When applying your lubrication to your metal to metal wear points,
Pro-Shot's lubricants are designed to pull the moisture out of the
pores of the metal and seal them from the elements. Pro-Shots lubricants
are designed to penetrate the pores of the metal and will continue
to lubricate even when the majority is removed due to heat and recoil.
THE ABOVE CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS ARE ONLY SUGGESTIONS AND IN NO WAY
WILL PRO-SHOT PRODUCTS TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR DAMAGE DONE TO EITHER
A PERSON OR PROPERTY.
ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOUR FIREARM IS UNLOADED BEFORE STARTING YOUR CLEANING
PROCESS.
